Nanenane Eastern Zone exhibition Show Mwl Nyerere grounds in Morogoro region

Speaking to SUA Media at the Nanenane Eastern Zone exhibition grounds in Morogoro region, Dr. Edwin Ngowi, a Senior Lecturer from the Department, said that for the first time SUA is building a data source system of this kind that will enable us to understand why conflicts between farmers and pastoralists occur, especially using geographical methods.

“We are starting with regions that have a history of frequent conflicts, like Morogoro, especially Kilosa and Mvomero Districts, and later we will move to other areas like Kiteto and Tanga Region where pastoralist communities have been seen to enter,” said Dr. Ngowi.

Dr. Ngowi said that the data source will help the Government, especially through the relevant ministries, to assess conflict areas, understand the main causes, and ultimately set strategies to prevent such conflicts at the national level.
